Korean skincare is built on one principle: know your skin first. Here's what each skin type needs — and which products are made for it.
Skin Type 01
Dry Skin
Lacks moisture and natural oils. Often feels tight after cleansing, may flake, and rarely shines. Craves deep, long-lasting hydration.
Signs you might have it
- Skin feels tight or uncomfortable after washing
- Fine lines appear more visible
- Rough or flaky patches, especially in winter
- Makeup settles into dry areas
Skin Type 02
Oily Skin
Produces excess sebum throughout the day. Often looks shiny by midday, prone to enlarged pores and breakouts — but tends to age more slowly.
Signs you might have it
- Shine appears within 1–2 hours of cleansing
- Pores look enlarged, especially on nose and forehead
- Prone to blackheads and breakouts
- Makeup fades or slides off quickly
Skin Type 03
Combination Skin
A mix of zones — typically an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) with drier cheeks. Needs balanced care that doesn't over-treat either area.
Signs you might have it
- T-zone gets oily, cheeks feel dry or normal
- Pores visible on nose and forehead only
- Breakouts mainly in the T-zone
- Skincare feels "too heavy" in some spots
Skin Type 04
Sensitive Skin
Reacts easily to new products, environmental triggers, or stress. May flush, sting, or break out when exposed to harsh ingredients. Needs gentle, barrier-supporting care.
Signs you might have it
- Redness or stinging after using new products
- Skin flares up with temperature changes or stress
- Reacts to fragrance, alcohol, or certain actives
- Feels easily irritated or inflamed
Skin Type 05
Normal Skin
Well-balanced — not too oily, not too dry. Pores are small, breakouts rare, and most products are tolerated well. The goal is to maintain what's already working.
Signs you might have it
- Skin feels comfortable throughout the day
- Rarely experiences breakouts or dry patches
- Tolerates a wide range of products
- Pores are small and barely visible
